The word “providence” is such a unique word because it captures the idea of a divine plan that God has unfolded. Looking back, we can see how each angel was an image of God’s providence. But in the moment, each angel was received with different reactions. Within this Christmas story filled with so much uncertainty, we see angels introduced in various places and to various people to convey God’s message of good news to His people. Looking back, when the angels arrive on the scene, we see that this was God at work---unfolding His plan. When our plan doesn’t look like God’s plan, we can trust that He will bring just what we need and who we need to reassure our hearts, direct our paths, and accomplish His purposes.
