Picked Up and Never Put Down

“I chose you.” These are the words of Jesus in verse 16. He speaks them to His disciples then, and He speaks
them to us now. This word “chose” can also be translated as “picked up.” They are words of intentionality,
they are words that evoke relationship, they are words that carry great purpose, and they are words for us to
hold onto when we struggle to believe. He has picked us up and we can be confident in His hands. Jesus has chosen
every single one of us on purpose and with a purpose in this world.
