As believers, we live in the tension of the hope that is coming and the reality of the present. We are weak, but yet we are strong. We grieve but at the same time we have joy. We feel the pain and brokenness of this world, but we are being made whole through the work of the Holy Spirit in us. This tension is summed up in the longest recorded prayer of Jesus in John 17 as He prays to God over His disciples and all believers to live in this tension in such a way that brings glory, honor, and understanding to His name. As we close out this semester-long study through some of the final words of Jesus, we want to take these words as our own and commit to everyday living that unleashes the hope, joy, strength and unity that can be found in Jesus alone.
